Today was Sam's last day in her Beach Babies 2 swimming class. Her teacher Karen, was her teacher since she started at Beach Babies 1, when she was a few weeks away from turning 6 months old.
So much has happened in the last year and a half!
Sam is more confident now in the water and she loves it!
We gave our Christmas gift cum thank you gift to Karen today just before starting the with the lessons.
During the final activity, the usual routine is to give each kid a high five as Karen says goodbye.
But today, for some weird reason, and much to my surprise, when Karen put her hand on air to give Sam her high-five, Sam didn't give her one. Instead, Sam reached out to Karen and gave her a cuddle and kissed her cheek.
I was speechless. Even Karen was too. Karen was very touched. I just told Karen that maybe Sam knew.
I was surpised and I actually can't explain it because I didn't tell Sam to give Karen a kiss and a cuddle. She decided to give it on her own!
Karen is a great swimming teacher! I hope all swimming teachers are like her.
Keeping our fingers crossed, we hope to get a spot on one of her Nippers class (good luck to us, she's that good that her classes are always the first to get full) next term, when Sammie swims already on her own.

Achieving Goals
Last Thursday, my son, Liam, had his first soccer goal and I was there to witness it!
Nothing beats that experience! Of that moment when he finally kicked the ball and the ball went it! As soon as the ball went in, he looked where I was, checking if I saw it, and when he saw that I did, he smiled and had that "yes!" moment!
Too bad I wasn't able to record it :( But, like what I told my friends and family, the experience of seeing him achieve a goal he has set for himself is more than enough! I am proud of my little boy!
A little background: Liam started with this swimming lessons when he was two and with his soccer lessons when he was three.
Thursday morning, while preparing for his soccer lessons, he has been telling me that he was doing good with his soccer lessons, but he is yet to make a goal. He wants to make a goal. I was telling him that it's alright if he still doesn't make a goal since he's only 4 and what matters is that he is doing his best. I was preparing him just in case he still does not make one at the end of his lessons that day. He was being cool with my advice, but I felt deep inside, he was really serious in acheving that goal.
I was just so happy when he finally achieved it!
I guess it's the same with his swimming lessons. He is yet to move to the next level because everytime he gets assessed every term, his skills are still not acceptable (for the next level). He is determined to get to the next level and I see him work hard for it. Again, this is another goal he has set for himself, and I see him still working on it.
I thought enrolling them to these classes was just to let them learn a new skill or to just make them healthier. I guess, it really pays to enroll your kids to sports programmes. There are really much more in there than just learning the sport. They are helping us prepare our kids by teaching them life skills, one very important life skill -- setting and achieving goals. I really didn't realize that until last Thursday.

SPORTs for My Kids
Migrated because of our kids so taking the most of what Aussie can offer for our children.
Liam already have Swimming lessons every weekends, now we were looking for another activity that will not only keep him busy but will also allow him to develop his God given talents and skills (Nature-Nurture). We thought of enrolling him to Piano lessons but I came across an article that discusses the best age for piano lessons to begin is 6, so we still ahve to wait for 3 more years. Tennis lessons are offered for 5 years old and above so we are trying out soccer :) We enrolled him to Soccer lessons and will be starting next term. He is excited. I am excited :) Who knows, he can be an Azkals someday? or a David Beckham? Wishful thinking! But for now we are just happy to see him happy and happy that we have the resources to send him to these activities :)
Sam on the other hand will be enrolling for her swimming lessons next week. Hopefully she'll get a good schedule next term. Her swimming lessons are still with a parent so I guess I will also have to get wet ;) When she's a bit older I plan to enrol her on a dance school or a gmnastics school :)
Yep, sports for my little boy and little girl. I know that thru these, they will learn lessons and skills not only about the sport but more! :)
